Malmo Mercantile Demolition

Harry and Florence Lindstrom bought the Malmo Mercantile in 1959 from Fred and Alice Burman. The store was like an old-fashioned general store with old equipment, souvenirs, and groceries. Many families remember special stops for ice cream. They were open 7 days a week for 20 years, including Christmas day, so they could be there for the community.

They sold the property in 1980 to Mary and Ken Huag who did their best to preserve the character. The property sold again in 2003. Unfortunately, after decades of deterioration it became an unpleasant sight and a danger to the community, raising regular concerns among community members. Demolition occurred in April 2024.
